The Crooked Woods: A Mystery Worth Knowing
The anomalous nature of the trees in Crooked Woods has been a mystery that has been debated for some time, so it's worth checking out.
The world holds hundreds of natural wonders and mysteries worth exploring, and the Polish Twisted Forest is one of them.
Krzywy Las, also known as Crooked Forest in English, is one of the strangest attractions in the world and is located near Gryfino, a small town in West Pomerania. Gryfino is fascinating, and not just because there is a natural wonder in the world. All of the pines growing in this particular forest are bent 90 degrees from the base and are mostly healthy despite the bends. In this small forest, farmers planted trees in the 1930s and in the 20th century they grew in a completely strange but similar way. Sure, there are forests with very twisted plants all over the world, like Hoia Baciu in Romania and Drunken Trees in the subarctic taiga. But none of them are as neatly arranged as those in Poland's Twisted Forest.
Visiting Krzywy Las
The fact that Krzywy Las is situated in a remote corner of Poland means that most travelers never embark on a journey to uncover this mystery. While it's not easy to get there, travelers who want to experience it certainly can.To get to the forest, you need to go to Gryfino, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. There are several interesting sights in Gryfino worth visiting, including the Banska Gate, which is said to have protected the town from its ancient enemies. The main attraction is of course the winding forest, which is only a few kilometers from the city.
visitors will not find airports here. The trick is to get to Poznań and then take a 3-hour train ride to Gryfino. In the city, you can use the bus, which usually takes about 10 minutes, taxi or Uber service for a more comfortable ride to the forest.
A visit to northern Poland in Pomerania, including beautiful Stargard, originally called Stargard Szczeciński, and Toruń is worth every traveler's time!
What led to this puzzle?
The mystery of the origin of the twisted forest raises many questions. The trees are 50 feet tall and may have been damaged early in their growth.Although no one knows the reality of this world's natural wonder, there are a few theories to explain this ecological anomaly.
Some have argued that gravity caused the unusual shape of the trees in this forest. However, there is no evidence to support this theory. Others suspect that heavy snowfall was the cause of the crooked growth, which also doesn't explain why other pines grew straight and not curved.
